First Sat since April I am At home.

One week gone in a flash. Right now at this time I should be running back to the gathering area and form up and get ready to go off.

Amos had this nick at MSN. "Singapore successfully purchased an Olympic medal."

This set me thinking. Yesterday's match was really heart stopping. All that mattered to me while watching and blogging (YES, I was blogging, I don't think other webbies used lousier english than me...) is that SIN had to win. I just want to see a win in the whole match. It didn't really sank into me that those 3 paddlers donning our national colours were "Made in China."

The question came to me, "Dowe really feel proud of their achievement?" It didn't take long for me to come to a conclusion. Yes I am. Few years back when Jing Jun Hong and Li Jia Wei came close to winning a bronze medal, every one seemed to condemned them. Coming over to play table tennis, depriving a chance for our own local bred players to represent Singapore. the whole thing spilled over to those talented Immigrants who decided to reside in Singapore. Singaporeans COMPLAINED that they are snatching our rice bowls.

Now, People, think back. 2008-1819= 189 years ago when our forefathers stepped ashore. Where were they from? Raffles ruled that Singapore will be a taxfree port. I will just compare the incentive of a tax free port to that of the multi million reward thingy that the SSC( Singapore Sports Council) is currrently giving out. SO there isn''t any wrong. our forefathers were attracted to this land because of the oppurtunity this young country is able to offer them. Likewise, in this era, the paddlers and other atheletes who decided to get foreign citizenship are leaving their motherland because there is no future they forsee in their country. Same as what our forefathers faced.

I guess money is a bonus or should I say a career incentive. Remeber, these atheltes are doing full time. They are treating sports as something that provide them 3 meals and a house to live in. To insult or say negative remarks is hurting. All they want is a chance to put their talents to good use and at the mean time, create a future for themselves.

Competition leads to excellence, which is very true. Look at how China is theatening the once Sports powerhouse of USA in this games. Don't say it is kelong all what. 8 years back, Chinese have been settiing up alot of sports academis across it country just to groom young talents into matured sportsman and women for this 2008 games. Pumping in so much money jus to ensure their young talents can take on the world and compete at top level.
Sad thing is that Singapore cried foul when the influx of top foregin talents came. It showed that we cowered by them. We should say, bring it on istead. Take them, push ourselves and unleash our potential. Sad thing is not many people like the hard way. Most just want PAP to give them more money so they can buy cigarettes to smoke -_-"

So tmr 7.30pm. Just be glued to your TVs and watch Li Jia Wei , Feng Tianwei and Wang YueGu play with the Singapore Flag on their chest. Support them with no doubts in your mind. It is time we give them the due respect we long have given them. =)

if our forefathers weren't given a chance, I don't think me and you are here today, able to watch sports at its best at Beijing 08

Wonder who is gonna watch the National Day Rally. LOLOLOLOL. Hahas, maybe they gonna screen it side by side with Mr Lee Hsien Loong's Rally. We will see. Hope they can cause a major upset, but as usual the Easter Dragons are too hard too tame >_<
