Evolution of Blog

Didn't wake up as early as I would hope to.

Watched the Channel 8 Law show on Mobtv select. I think most people around me have the consensus that Mediacorp Drama sucks big time. To me, the storyline is somehow predictable, but many a time people forget that how the actors protray the whole show is like mapped onto our lives. If only I was studying law...

My dad was saying lawyers are dangerous people. more dangerous than criminals. You will lose to them in arguments, and you never know if they are working for the good or bad. lol. Lucky, I didn't tell him what I wanted to do previoulsy.

Back to main topic, Evolution of Blog. Or rather should I say how social networking sites crafted out the was the blog evolved. Right at the very start, blogs were set up, so that people who wanted to bring the diary into the reality world can do so. You save paper ( but you also wasting crude oil--> burns to produce electricity) , save pen ink, more convenient too. The idea of bringing a physical diary into the computer world seems quite fresh at that time. Humans love fresh ideas, i think.

Graudally, I became one. Just type whatever comes to my mind without thinking. It got to a point when my blog was featured in my school quarterly magazine, that I complained the geog paper was hard to do. Totally no sense, Geog, you have to write alot of content, that was why my hand was feeling tired. Till date, I have doubts over the so called VS journalists. But anyway, by then you have stories that people set up blog not only because of diaries, it became a form of advertising, Both corporate and personal. Corporate, when people start to do advertorials for money, or do food critiques( not really..cause they either get treated for the meal, or get discounts, so youwill have to say soething good about the restuarant). Personal advertising, in a sense, you can let people know your inner thoughts which usually you aren't not that use to saying. Like in school , " Hey , you know what, lets talk about how should morals and ethics be viewed.." Back in VS, guess everyone will just say F U. Hahas, but of course, with a blog, just type whatever you want, and your thoughts will be stored in the online world. Advertising can be another form, when you want to stir up emotions of others or create a fake mask of yourself.

Soon after, there came nuffnang and advertlets. They requests to put advertisements on your blog, and then when people come to your blog and click the advert, you can get abit comission. Iwas one of those who was attracted to this kind of lobang. But of course, now my account i sjust $35. $15 bucks away to recieve the first cheque. But hey it has been like 7 years since I am blogging, and $35 for 7 years??? Just find a kid to give tuition too and you can recoup the money in 2 hours.

Then the social networking sites came in. Facebook, then Twitter. People are totally hooked on FB. I am one of them, Imust admit. Last time, you take hp out to check sms, or check if the person whom you wish to reply to your sms has really replied your sms. Now the first thing we check is fb. Check what on earth is going around on your wall.

A joke: A kid answered her teacher wrongly, so the teacher told the kid to go and face the wall and reflect. The kid took out his Iphone and start to type out the reflections.

So slowly, the blog has been neglected. So now when i look through the list of links under the friends list. 90% are dead already. I guess the attention has all shifted onto fb. Easier to like a post , rather then posting a long stuff on the tagbox. Hahas. Twitter, 140 characters, short and sweet way to convey whatever is on your mind. People find it fast. ME too. Just post a short one will do. Advantage of twitter is that i guess u can say whatever u see or convey any thoughts that come to your mind straight away.

SO where do blogs stand now? You seldom see blogs that goes like this

"today hor, go out with dar dar to marina square . so lub lub him leh, he bought the tix...blah blah blah"

OK maybe u still do la, those ah lian blogs, but i think most blogs are changing to a medium that you want to highlight a problem or ideas. That is what I am noticing. I guess the online population are sick to know what you are doing day in day out. Blogs are still money making machine, if you read through those famous peeps posts, most of them are covered by advertorials, which can rake in a huge sum depending on the readership of the blog.
Blogs are here to stay only for those who want their ideals or ideas to be written down and saved. I think. Sadly, for me, I can't read the life of what my friends are going on. And it actually makes me feel distant from them. Oh well, maybe this is how the world works

Alright 2 more essays to do. Wohoo. Time to go buy dinner. My template sucks big time. But got no freaking time to be bothered about it. SEA SEA. Foreign labour. Hahas. some topic to choose. Make sure i get an A out of it man.
